Dr. Olumuyiwa Igbalajobi is a molecular biologist with 16 years of experience in research and teaching and the founder of Scholarship Cafe.

Scholarship Cafe is a platform that connects prospective scholars to scholarships and global opportunities. Scholarship Cafe offers scholarship insight, links, career guidance and opportunities across the continents for prospective graduate students in Africa. This initiative has made a global impact with numerous success stories.

Dr. Olumuyiwa Igbalajobi is also the chancellor of Western Pinnacle University, a Canada based distance learning institution with global partners and affiliations.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from Ekiti State University, Nigeria. He also earned a Master’s degree in Microbiology from Daejeon University in South Korea on a fully funded scholarship granted by the prestigious Korean Government Scholarship.

Following the completion of his master’s degree, Dr. Igbalajobi earned his Ph.D. at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, where he was fully funded by the DFG Grant. He completed the program in an impressive three years and two months and went on to become a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia in Canada in 2020.

He has contributed to numerous research publications and lecture invitations. According to him the biggest challenge/ barrier he faced as an African in STEM is the disparity and gap in the curriculum of STEM in Africa compared to the developed world.
